The broader world implications of it being always Winter but never Christmas in Narnia bear examination, as one wonders:
- What were the agricultural impacts on Narnia given the lack of growing season? Was everyone just scraping by on whatever they could find? Were the trees able to grow enough to create a consistent fire?
- Where did the rest of the humans go? Did the ones in Narnia fall in a final defense of Cair Paravel, slain by the Witch as the women and children escaped to the distant islands and kingdoms beyond the border?
- What was the broader effect on the world, or was it only winter in Narnia? It seems like it would be an awfully bad thing if everyone froze in Arkenland. For that matter, we know that the lineage of Arkenland goes back fairly far, did they just ignore Narnia while the White Witch sent infrequent espionage efforts at the kingdom? Was Calormen just vibing?
Many questions, few answers. One wonders if the world followed the story for Lewis while the story followed the world for Tolkien.
