To celebrate Juneteenth today
I rode the VRE
Lovely commuter train it is
And speedy as can be
It’s quieter than Metro bus
Less stops than Metro train
It’s faster than just driving in
With far less traffic pain
That said, it isn’t quite perfect
My office walk is far
And if you choose to stay out late
You’ll wish you had a car
But while I love metro’s system
And public transit ways
There are some days that it is closed
Like fed’ral holidays
(To clarify my prior point,
Before you make a fuss
Although some metro runs today
It won’t include my bus)
