The feeling of the rumbling road
Beneath the rolling wheels
We drive on highways and through states
Only stopping for meals

Cross-country trip begins today
As we depart from home
And though we stopped in Columbus
We saw no cap’tol dome

The car is loaded with our stuff
Our clothes and snacks abound
The radio is turned up high
And stations circle round

For lunch we stopped in Maryland
On C&O canal
And dinner was in Ohio
With Summer our old pal

The final chunk of our first leg
Then freed us from that state
Which on the Internet it is
Fashionable to hate

In Indiana we now rest
In hotel quietly
For what our day tomorrow holds
You’ll have to wait and see
