We journey now to Illinois
Across the time zone line
The days activities were great
And our hotel is fine
Upon the road we sped along
To make our way to lunch
At cousins house we made our stop
And found something to munch
We’re in the state for a wedding
Of Anna and Koen
Tomorrow is the day for that
And I’ll update you then
For now we go back to our lunch
Where I had barbequeue
And talked with parents of the groom
And also the groom too
But then we made our way from lunch
‘Cause naps we all did need
But our planned naps we had to nix
Our rental house we could not fix
Its odor was of weed
We packed our things and went away
To find a new abode
And soon we found a new hotel
A little down the road
A brief respite we had in there
But soon we had to leave
And eat rehearsal dinner that
Had things you won’t believe
We were early, we beat the rush
Though we were not the first
But pretty soon the room filled up
As in the people burst
Chattering fun and laughing joy
And tasty food, of course
But the attraction of the night
Perhaps, was a bit coarse
As shards of metal fly through air
Their spinning frame attacks
The simple plywood target that
Is the aim of my axe
And so we battled for bullseyes
And talked amongst our kin
The mood was high as it should be
When flying axes spin
But at long last we had to go
To gain our long sought rest
Back to the hotel that we found
After our first failed nest
