The waters skimmed up by the wind
Were quite enough to chill
But twasn’t just those icy blasts
That made my cold heart thrill

To mountain’s gates I went today
Though I had got there slow
For Meriwether Lewis went
Some centuries ago

The towering limestone canyon walls
Are where bald eagles fly
Where thirteen firefighters brave
Doomed never more to fly

The stories that those rocks could tell
Would last for many years
And some would end in lots of laughs
And some would end in tears

I’d not to justice to describe
That pure natural beauty
But that place is, with certainty,
An awesome place to be
