As I wrap up this month of poems
And as I move to school
I’ll take a sec to recollect
Some things that have been cool
Last year I started Liberty
And I joined in debate
To toot my own horn just a bit
I performed pretty great
And suddenly the year was done
And summer had begun
I’d found a job at CRA
And it sounded like fun
I got to know the office folks
While working on projects
And I found out about events
From people in my texts
I went to AMFridays lunch
And the Heritage CHIP
And then my fam’ly went on a
Lengthy cross-country trip
With one way ticket I joined them
Off to the distant west
Where in Montana I could see
That big blue sky the best
And sometime earlier in June
I started writing poems
And I continued writing them
As we saw cap’tol domes
But then soon after July 4th
I hopped a plane to fly
Way back to my Virginia home
So NatCon I could try
At NatCon I could see again
Some people from my past
And ‘twixt them and the plenaries
The conference went by fast
Once it was done I stayed at home
Cause CRA was hot
And if you’ve followed these at all
You’d know AC was shot
But over time we realized that
If skies were overcast
Even our weakened cooling rig
Could manage to get past
And now they finally have a date
To get the AC fixed
But sadly I’ve returned to school
Into a new mess kicked
But overall summer was good
And there is more to tell
But I can’t fit it all in here
But if I’m asked I’ll tell
So life is good and moves apace
And I will not be stressed
Cause looking at these past few years
I know that I’ve been blessed
