As I was hopping on the path
On a calm pleasant night
Upon me came, from skies above
A great unnatural light
And as I hopped along I felt
An alien presence
A giant, hulking, grasping, thing
‘gainst which I’d no defense
Swooping appendage pinioned me
And I rose in the air
A plaything of a giant beast
It didn’t quite feel fair
I squirmed around to break the grasp
And end the tyrants grip
Breaking away in a great fall
I gave the hand the slip
But once again its hands flew down
And put me in a hold
My best attempts could not escape
Though they were brave and bold
The giants moved me through the sky
And other hands grasped me
Eventually they let me go
So I fled to a tree
Amphibian life is rather tough
For be they frog or toad
Humans are wont to pick them up
When they’re crossing the road
