The people stream back to the school
And see their friends anew
They spot them in the library
The rot and sidewalks too
They walk along the quiet halls
To locate next week’s class
And make a friend or two that’s new
As randomly they pass
They stop to rest upon a couch
Or sit upon the ground
And play a game or two for fun
As yet more friends are found
They go to get some food as well
And see another there
They play on consoles and a board
As late as they can dare
But then they need to get some sleep
Reluctant, home they lurch
To wake again when morrow comes
And make their way to church
