I know the One who made the plains
The seas and mountains too
Who filled the brilliant sky with stars
Whose words define what’s true
I know the shaper of the Earth
Who put the moon in place
The builder of the atmosphere
The constructor of space
Beyond all odds that Lord knows me
Unique among it all
A person who was without worth
Accursed by man’s long fall
And yet He came, the Lord of all
To die upon a cross
The greatest gift I’ve ere received
Was what came from His loss
So as I gaze into the night
In awe of majesty
I wonder at the way He knows
And cares for even me
Alice inspired this particular poem because when we were done with our time at the observatory and Alice got into the car and said “I know that guy who made that!” and caused a moment of serious contemplation as I realized that I do too.
