A favorite book in favorite spot
With windows all around
Consuming Chesterton’s old works
In library I’m found

With Father Brown and mysteries
On comfy blue sofas
I read the stories once again
If only just because

Sometime last year they had the book
Placed in the front lobby
And there’d I go to read a bit
A chapter short story

But then display was shifted out
And I was left in gloom
But now I know where it is found
It’s in the Reading Room!

It really hit me hard when they took the book off the display that was on the table next to the comfy chairs in the lobby. I really and truly considered asking the librarians to move it back though didn’t end up doing so. The realization that I could have just gone to the reading room this entire time is somewhat embarrassing if I’m being totally honest.

That being said, I’m resuming my place halfway through, and have forgotten the trick to enough of these plots that they’re quite exciting to read. I highly recommend taking a crack at the book yourself, and the good folks at Project Gutenberg have published many of the stories there: https://www.gutenberg.org/cache/epub/204/pg204-images.html.

I’m also pretty sure the full set of Father Brown stories is also available at FadedPage, but for some reason the website isn’t working right now, and anyway, there’s a chance you violate US copyright law by downloading from there anyway, so I don’t necessarily recommend unless you’re Canadian.
