The other day my life was saved
As I looked at desert
I asked if chocolate was in food
And a girl was alert

So when my friend told me a lie
That brownies chocolate lacked
The eavesdropper was quick to move
And eager to react

She let me know that chocolate was
To be found in brownies
Which would have been a crucial fact
If I had allergies

And then we chatted for a bit
My friend, the girl, and I
Twas good to take a moment and
Just live as a chill guy

Another funny thing occurred
When coupled she thought we
But quick we strenuous object
And soon we made her see

So on the whole I thought it was
Quite nice to make a friend
Who acted on behalf of life
To stop my grisly end

To my friend’s credit, the girl missed important context to our conversation that meant that while I did in fact ask if brownies had chocolate, I was trying to ask about raspberries and blatantly misspoke. Even so, I greatly appreciated the intervention and the conversation we had afterwards was quite enjoyable.
