I go about my room to see
Exactly what is there
I found a couple shoes today
And guess how many pair
I’ll start out with the four tennies
And also the three boots
I also found my sandals there
Add three dress shoes to loot
The whiteboard in the corner was
Something I’d not erased
And over two years to this day
Was when that text was placed
The trumpet and the clarinet
While real can barely play
The LEGOs sit up on my shelf
Ties hang on full display
The milk carton I made a mask
The magazine called MAD
I have some decades old issues
I think my grandpa had
A senior banner with my face
Ann oh so many books
Perhaps the stack of Winter clothes
Is what’s drawing the looks
My desk has seven decks of cards
My dresser has a globe
Some advent socks, a stack of hats
And inside my wardrobe
The back issues of Modern Age
Entire rolls of stamps
A magnet arm I can extend
Umbrella for rains damp
A power strip, HDMI
Some dysfunctional lights
And more extraneous cables
A pocket bill of rights
My water pick I haven’t used
Though dentists often ask
More notebooks than I can explain
No longer covid masks
There’s music from my time in band
And my banana phone
And did I mention stacks of books
A few are still on loan
We’ll not begin on my four walls
That’d take another poem
But hear me now, if you visit
I’m still cleaning my home
