The fella, Stanley travels tons
He folds up for the ride
Just pack him up with snacks and such
And he’ll be safe inside
He’s been invisible as well
But he’s most famous for
His flatness that allows him to
Go on his many tours
The board that was above his bed
Fell off its mount one night
And he was smushed beneath its weight
Gave parents quite a fright
But it turns out flat people are
A thing that manifest
When bulletins come off the wall
Their board on people pressed
Flat Stanley getting reinflated by a bike pump is one of those surreal moments in fiction that I don’t think gets enough credit for just how goofy it is. (While I certainly recall this as a thing that actually happened in those books, if, for some reason, I dreamed this entire plot point up, please tell me.)
