The White House gate in morning light
Defended by a guard
Was keeping out the growing line
From entering the yard

But slowly we were filed through
Identity was checked
We were the lucky few this morn
The fortunate elect

Once wanded down we wandered through
The second gate that day
To go into that place of power
And see how things would play

We gathered just outside the door
Along a velvet rope
The people spread across the line
And flowed along the slope

The minutes turned around the clock
The tension slowly built
Until we heard the distant noise
Of chopper’s spinning lilt

Descending slow it made its way
On to the green expanse
And now we waited for the door
The President to chance

But nothing happened as we watched
And nothing did some more
The guards were chatting and we stood
Starting to feel a bore

But then we saw the door a-crack
A hush fell on the crowd
A man emerged, we watched him leave
With bags he was endowed

Then time went on with nothing else
But helicopter’s whine
As we remained in humid place
In some disordered lines

But then another man with bags
Departed from abode
He brought them to the heli’s floor
And there they then were stowed

Some more time passed, but then, twas time
Twas Donald Trump at last
He moved to see the gathered crowd
Along the side we’d massed

He chatted with the ones in front
Shook hands and said hello
If I had known that was the deal
I’d stand in the first row

And after he had talked to us
He went across the lawn
Where press was stationed for the day
With mics and cameras drawn

And after they got questions in
Departure time was nigh
And so across the field Don went
Then chopper lifted high

So ends my tale of White House time
It may not come again
But we will see how life goes on
And I’ll update you then

Somehow the way that I took the pictures of the helicopter it’s basically impossible to tell that they’re on the White House lawn or even in DC. The only building giveaways are tiny and mostly covered by trees. It’s kinda baffling tbh.

Screenagers amirite?
