I didn’t have a class today
Alarm was not ring
The praises for sleeping past 8
Are more than I can sing
Then when I woke I got some food
And broke my pizza streak
Which made my diet for two days
Out of this goofy week
I read my books and ate my meal
Then convo time arrived
Which I attended grudgingly
As into lines I dived
Then came lunch where I ate food
That pizza still was not
And talked with friends who I had missed
Whose car now functions not
Apparently a Sunday crash
Did not do lasting harm
To people in the vehicles
But cars have bought the farm
I also went to Hey Cow’s line
And waited for too long
For my friend’s burger to come out
Because their system’s wrong
And after that I made my way
To read my book some more
The place where I’m predictable
Library second floor
But then I moved down to a booth
With people that I knew
Pretended to do work while there
But rather time just flew
I tried to learn some Arabic
But cheated with the light
To peek through flashcards blank facade
And utilize the bright
But I was rather obvious
That strategy was stopped
And with that all my language skill
Was like a bubble popped
The Taste of Nations also came
To occupy my day
While fun the lines were awfully long
And knotted in a fray
Then finally I made my way
To get dinner with friends
Which lasted for a couple hours
‘til it came to an end
But even after that we saw
Some nonsense to conclude
The day that I have chronicled
That started with some dude
He opened up his window on
The third floor the dorm
And cast a volleyball at us
Like salt thrown on a worm
We ducked and tried to send it back
But we were losing hope
The fellas who had thrown the ball
Had lowered down a rope
And somehow when we got the ball
Up to where it belonged
It fell back down to us and earth
To hit where we were thronged
Eventually the rope came down
And then went up again
But after that the night was done
Unless, until, and then …
The day is over, that is true
But Saturday arrives
And when it does who knows what’s next
In our rambunctious lives
