The rays of sun still flood the sky
Though setting will be soon
Decline of day is not here yet
And absent is the moon

I rest in warmth bathed in the light
Which trees do not occlude
But shadows border on my right
To dampen pleasant mood

The darkness creeps along the ledge
Where I relax and read
Arriving slow to chill my perch
With slow but certain speed

My leftward drifting scoots along
I read a chapter more
The shade encroaches once again
And time surpasses four

I shift over another foot
Repeat the chore again
I lean against the polished stone
And dark intrudes again

So finally I make my way
A further step than past
Which would sustain my sunbathing
Til reading time had past
