12/11/25: I love being overwhelmed by things that I don’t understand and know that to begin understanding will require learning how to use github, what ssl actually means, what a reverse proxied nginx is, how to sync files with a server in reasonable execution, and why running a home server is cool but it’s probably smarter to just pay for web hosting and use the home server as a secure backup location just in case. Will I learn all of those lessons? Stay tuned to find out.
12/11/25: Thinking of attempting to also self-host a genealogy program so that the family can finally have a family tree that’s coherent and ties in all of the cool information. The only problem is that I have none of the actual information and to host the web server I need to have a domain and ssl certificate (which you can apparently get for free, cool beans, but which I also cannot comprehend, less cool beans).
All of this because when I looked at the family tree program that I used in middle school I learned that there isn’t a good way to show that somehow my cousins both married people from the same family (which is fair, because who the heck has that happen in their family?).
Will this actually happen? Stay tuned to find out, but also maybe get out the family tree.
