Pretty cool, huh (alt-graph key and also shift key functions)

While you’ve heard about the alt-graph key alt-graph key, did you know that the alt key can also be used for special characters? Holding alt and then typing a number or series of numbers will create even more special characters.

For example, card suits can be typed with alt and 3, 4, 5, and 6 respectively (♥, ♦, ♣, ♠).

Alt-1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9 will create § (as will Alt-7-8-9, Alt-3-3-3-3-3-3, Alt-0-1-6-7 and Alt-2-1 but whatevs)

Alt-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 creates ▒

I’m going to keep experimenting with this one, but so far, my favorite discovery is probably that Alt-5-5 creates 7, though Alt-5-5-5-5-5-5-5-5 creating π (though Alt-7-8-9-9-8-7 works too), and Alt-8-8-8-8-8 making 8 is pretty neat too.

Final highlight before I allow this to totally distract from my actual work today:

Alt-8-2-5-3 creates the interrobang (‽), allegedly, though it doesn’t seem to be working for me.

Mileage will vary based on your font and application, but this was still a neat discovery.
