I had the joy of using electrical tape today. My home phone charger cable casing1 was fraying terribly. After fruitlessly checking my closet and the junk drawer, I ventured downstairs in the vain hope that I’d find electrical tape. I found it in the last place I looked, but that was fortunately also the first place I looked because sometimes life gives you lemonade directly.
Long story short, my cable is now safer to touch, and the gaping hole in the side of my laptop is covered. Will I get a new laptop because of that damage? Don’t stay tuned:
-
It’s fine and has been like that for months even before I got around to electrical taping it (though not for lack of trying; I went to the IT Helpdesk at one point and asked for electrical tape, and the guy looked for it in the closet and couldn’t find it)
-
If my laptop breaks, there’s a reasonable chance that using Substack is a big enough pain that the daily poem goes back to Instagram until I get a new laptop (assuming I’m not at home and can use my desktop).

try saying that five times fast, then call me and actually do it. I’ll probably pick up; I’m bored (and even when I’m not bored, I do try to catch calls, or at least call back) ↩
