There’s something about the way that a letter is delayed both in receipt and response which is really alien to the modern world. The instant gratification of “message seen” and getting a text back in 10 minutes is a totally different dynamic from waiting for the postal service to lug a physical piece of paper hundreds of miles from one house to another. You can’t clarify what you said if you rethink it while it’s in the mail, and you can’t fix typos either. It’s neat; I like it. The other fun thing about it is getting to write them out by hand. My handwriting is of moderate quality, and I still have no idea how to write most of the uppercase letters in cursive, but writing letters is fun nonetheless.
