Arkansas

This is a good place to put my Arkansas Capitol appreciation post:

  1. This capitol was very nicely designed. The legislative chambers had lovely stained-glass roofs, and the rest of the interior was also wonderful. It felt like the kind of building that would be enjoyable to work in while the legislature was in session.
  2. There was a fully functioning post office, unlike in the Tennessee Capitol which didn’t even have a letter slot open to the public. While I mailed several letters yesterday from Hohenwald TN, one of you, my semi-loyal readers, will be getting a letter from Little Rock Arkansas. Who knows, it may even be postmarked from the Capitol (if it is, please text me with a picture lol).
  3. The Treasury of Arkansas is housed inside the capitol, and in its vault they keep a minimum of 600 thousand, which I now have a picture holding as well. It turns out that half a million dollars in cash weighs less than 20 pounds, who would have known?

An overall wonderful capitol. If you want to hear my only gripe with it, you’ll need to ask me directly.

Louisiana

Goofy building

Mississippi

Wonderful building

Texas

We also saw the Texas State Capitol; it was pretty good. I appreciate how they attached the office building to the capitol and put it underground rather than the usual high-rise next door with a tunnel and/or path to it from the main building; it maintains the idea of the whole of government being contained in one building.
