I dearly love the bridge that the yellow line takes to go over the Potomac. I think I’ve mentioned this before, but it bears repeating. The bridge has the best view of anywhere on the WMATA system and gives you a chance to get some Richard Scarry level pictures. On one side of the tracks, you have a train bridge which will occasionally have either a freight train or the VRE on it. On the other side of the tracks, you have an automobile bridge with a lot of cars on it (because the traffic on it can get pretty bad). Further out on the side of the tracks with the train bridge, you have Ronald Reagan National Airport, which will sometimes have a plane landing or taking off from it. And finally, below, you have the Potomac River, with boats on it, rowboats, motorboats, tour boats, you name it. You also have the bridge maintenance barges which have cranes and trucks sitting on them and motorboats tied to the sides of them. What that means is that if the stars align you can see cars, boats, planes, and trains all at the same time from one window (thought the cars are on the barges in this instance.

When you’re on the VRE you don’t need to cheat the system and can see the metro, cars, planes, and boats all at the same time, but the VRE is too expensive and doesn’t get me to my place of work, so I no longer to take it.
