The Worchester hills go up and down
They’re topped with odd and strange
The tower sits astride one such
Up in that misty range

It’s dedicated to a man
Who did just so much stuff
Ambassador, historian
And that was not enough

The Navy got Academy
By his effort alone
His race for State Senate was won
To his knowledge unknown

And now a tower sits up there
For Bancroft’s efforts great
And we have made it up the hill
But now it’s getting late

We’ve lost our mind on compass points
Our guts are busting out
We’ve lost our mind with one more day
So now we scream and shout
