Gleaming blocks of chiseled stone
An ivory thoroughfare
That towers up into the deep
That goes through depths of air
It’s paving only goes so far
Part way to galaxies
On either side is sheer abyss
To silent stormy seas
What pavers started long ago
Foundation firmly set
The generations tred upon
Extended and upset
The narrow way is ours to build
For although we have strode
The time has come to make the path
And to extend the road
