Though courage rose
And flowers brought
It seems that it
Was all for naught
The long-sought day
Ends in a puff
An outcome that
I’d say is rough
And though I’ve said
The ball game’s long
I wonder if
That turned out wrong
Persistence now
Will tantalize
But I was wrong
When I surmised
To dare to hope
And not to rhyme
Detritus from
Another time
Comparison
Is thief of joy
But I can’t help
But it employ
For there is none
Who can come close
To she, but I
Won’t be verbose
The only thing
That’s left to say
Is “welp” this wasn’t
Quite my day
Perhaps I lied concluding here
For lining storm clouds is some cheer
In killing all uncertainty
And forcing hope to leave me be
But though I wish, I lack the might
To drown in agony’s delight
For darkness cometh before dawn
And peace is forecasted in yawns
But nothing’s ever stayed the same
‘cept death and taxes and God’s name
A final setback this may be
But I know there are plans for me
