The goslings of the pond are gone
Evicted from their home
They’ll go a’wandering away
To distant lands to swim and play
And where they’ll end up, who can say
For they’ve been forced to roam

Their water home is empty now
Of rain and melted snow
Equipment, diesel-powered waits
To keep on as they operate
As if they geese and goslings hate
And so they’re forced to go

Perhaps one day they’ll fill it up
And they can return
But ere that day they’ll travel far
On routes of crows and planes, not cars
Where human hands have not yet marred
For home they’re forced to spurn
