He hadn’t seen her in two months
Since contract work had sent
Him to design a mining plant
And sleep inside a tent

He’d written loyal at the start
Resumed with end in sight
The middle weeks had worked him hard
Through days, into the nights

But never had devotion dimmed
Nor love declined at all
Today he’d see his little girl
Grown some but still right small

He’d meet his beauty of a wife
Pet canine friend, as well
To dinner they would all go out
And stories he would tell

Of shafts, and boats, and jungle vines
The strange cult of the sun
Together once again with those
He loved, now work is done
